Ed Adkins
Club Director / Fundraising & Scholarships

Ed began coaching high school sports while teaching Math and Chemistry at Pickens High School in 1993. He was part of a new coaching staff to bring back a winning tradition for the Blue Flame in football and men s tennis. While at PHS, Ed started two groups: a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) group that served over 100 of the student-athletes and a tutoring group that matched strong, academic students with athletes who needed help in different courses.

Sports have always been a part of Ed s life. He played football, baseball, basketball and softball. His two daughters are third-generation volleyball players starting with Ed’s mom and continuing with his two sisters. Ed has coached several community championship teams in football and baseball through the Simpsonville Recreation Department.

Ed is from Rock Hill, SC. He earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of South Carolina. He currently is a technical specialist with WESCO International. Ed and his wife Kori were married in 1992 and live in Simpsonville, SC. They have two daughters, Kim and Lauren, and two sons, Trey and Michael. 

Joe Dierickx
Master Coach / Club Director

Joe got his start in volleyball in 1980-1984 while a student at Florida State University as a club & recreational player. He began his coaching career in the area at Greenville Middle School as the assistant head coach in 2002-2003 where the GMS racked up a 24-4 record. He was again a volunteer assistant for HHS in 2008 as JV & Varsity Assistant coach. He has also coached for 3 years at the Simpsonville Recreational volleyball program.

Joe coached at the club level for 9 years with Club South Juniors. He coached all levels at Club South during his tenure. From the developmental training, Kidz Power, non travel teams, regional & national travel teams. For the last 2 years he coached at the national team level. He was also a mentor coach training new & upcoming coaches as a director in the Kidz Power & Non Travel programs.

In the past 15 years he has evaluated over 3000+ players in player evaluation & placement process.

Joe has coached the Axis Elite Volleyball teams starting with the 12’s in our inaugural year who finished 2nd Gold in the Big South Open level and 12th in the AAU National Championships Open Silver. The second year the 12’s finished 9th in the AAU National Championships Open Gold level. He has coached our 18 Open in his 3rd year, & 16 Open team that finished 9th in the AAU National Championships Gold 16 Premier Division in his 4th season. He coached the 15 Open team in his 5th season who finished 3rd in Gold 15 Premier Division at the AAU National Championships in 2017 and had 2 AAU All American players! In his 6th season last season he coached the 16 Open team who finished 5th in Gold 16 Premier Division. Joe’s teams have made the AAU National Championships Gold crossover in the Open & Premier levels 5 of the past 6 seasons.

Joe has had the blessing to coach two (2) National JVA Athleader Award winner in 2015/2106 & 2016/2017 seasons!

He hails from Saint Cloud, Florida. He graduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in Management Information Systems. He is currently the Sr. Director of Sales – East USA for Aeronet Worldwide. Joe and his wife Monica were married in 1985 and have 4 children. Now he even has a daughter who is coaching on the Axis staff. They live in Simpsonville, SC.

Korrinn Burgess
Programs Development & Recruiting Coordinator / Club Director / Master Coach

Korrinn just finished her 4th year as Head Volleyball Coach at Presbyterian College (PC). In 2012 she was the Head Volleyball Coach for the Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC) volleyball program. Prior to SMC, Korrinn served as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the Clemson Lady Tigers volleyball program.Read More

Korrinn is a native of Lake Benton, MN who helped the Lady Tigers to a record of 95-34 in four seasons. During the 2007 season, the Lady Tigers finished 29-4, won an ACC Championship with a record tying 21-1 conference record, and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. The Lady Tigers also made the NCAA tournament in 2008 & 2009.

Before arriving at Clemson University, Korrinn spent the 2004 & 2005 seasons as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Kansas volleyball team. She helped lead the Jayhawks to NCAA tournament appearance in both years and a 34-27 record.

Prior to her experience at Kansas, Korrinn was an assistant volleyball coach at Allen County Community College in Iola, KS. In her one year with the volleyball program, the Lady Red Devils reached the Final Four of the Region VI tournament. Also in 2003, four student-athletes were named to the All-Conference team and two earned All-Region honors. Korrinn aslo served as Assistant Director of Student Activities while at Allen County.

Korrinn was a double major at Dakota State University in Madison, SD, earning degrees in Business Administration & Computer Information Systems in May of 2003. She also played 2 seasons of volleyball at Dakota State and was DAC-10 Scholar Athlete before being sidelined with an injury. Korrinn earned a Masters of Science in Education at the University of Kansas in May of 2006.

Korrinn currently resides in Greer, SC with her husband Greg and son Evan. Greg is the Head Groundskeeper at the Greenville Drive Baseball stadium downtown.

Mike Whitten
Master Coach / Club Director

Mike began coaching volleyball with the Simpsonville Recreational program in 2005 working with ages 6-16 until 2008. He began working with Club South in 2007 as a coach in the Kidz Power youth developmental program and served as director for the Simpsonville/Greenville based youth programs in 2009 and 2010 seasons.  Many of those duties included serving as a mentor coach and responsible for the training of new or development of youth coaches. He has also worked with the non travel, regional, and national team travel programs at Club South.

Mike has also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Bryson Middle School during the 2009 and 2010 seasons where his teams earned a Greenville County Middle School championship and runner up the following season. In 2011, Mike served as a volunteer assistant for the Hillcrest High School varsity and junior varsity programs. During that season, both the junior varsity and varsity programs set unprecedented milestones winning both the HHS invitational and Dorman Tournament of Champions tournaments in the same season. The varsity team claimed the school’s third state championship and had a record of 53-5. Mike was a volunteer assistant for the HHS JV and Varsity volleyball program again for the 2012 season.

Mike coached Axis Elite Volleyball’s first National Champion in 2015 season with our 16U team winning the AAU National Championships and only losing one set the entire week! Mike has had multiple teams finish in the top 5 at the AAU Nationals including the 2015/2106 15U Open team that finished 3rd Gold in 15 Premier! In 5 years Mike has taken 4 of his teams into the Gold division cross over match in the AAU National Championships!

Mike is from Laurens, SC where he earned all region honors in baseball and played football. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Winthrop University. He currently is an account executive with AAA Cooper Transportation. Mike and his wife Toni live in Simpsonville, SC. He has two daughters Kayla and Allison.
